Timothy Doran Jr. of Jupiter, Florida Arrested for Leaving Boat Accident; Kai Woodstock, 4 Others Injured

Timothy Doran Jr. of Jupiter, Florida was arrested this past week for allegedly fleeing the scene of a boat accident that left Kai Woodstock critically injured, news sources report. Woodstock, also of Jupiter, was one of five passengers on the boat that sustained injuries in the crash. Doran, 23, was booked into the Palm Beach County Jail on charges of leaving the scene of a boating accident and four counts of violating inland navigation rules. He is being held without bail bond. It is currently unclear whether Doran has hired an attorney.

According to reports, the accident occurred on May 21, 2011 in the Intracoastal Waterway in Jupiter. Sometime that evening, several boaters, including Woodstock, picked up Doran near the A1A Bridge on the Loxahatchee River. The group drove to Tequesta and enjoyed some drinks at the Tiki 52 Bar. Reports say Doran consumed a few beers before driving the passenger-laden boat out onto the Intracoastal Waterway.

Doran and the group were headed for the Rum Bar near PGA Boulevard when the crash occurred, sources say. Doran had allegedly been driving around 35 to 40 miles per hour in a controlled speed zone; however, it is unclear what the speed limit in that zone was. Eric Conerly, a fellow passenger, reportedly asked Doran to slow the boat down. A moment later, Doran allegedly crashed the boat into a channel marker.

Following the crash, Doran allegedly fled the scene on foot and had a friend pick him up at a nearby gas station. Woodstock and the other passengers were taken to nearby hospitals for treatment. Reports say Woodstock sustained fractures to his skull and had to spend over a month at St. Mary’s Medical Center recovering.

Detectives tracked Doran down at the Ale House in Jupiter the next day. According to reports, an officer found Doran behind a dumpster. He was finally formally arrested last week. It is not clear whether any of the injured parties will be filing for damages.

In other news, Gregory Valli of Deerfield Beach was injured in a traffic accident on Monday, reports say. Valli, 23, sustained burns in the crash and was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment. No one else was injured in the crash, which police are still investigating. So far, no charges have been filed.

According to reports, the accident occurred around 5:15 Monday morning on Interstate 95 around Yamato Road. Valli was southbound on I-95 with no passengers when he lost control over his 2001 Chevy and veered across four lanes of traffic. Valli then collided with a traffic barrier, which caused his vehicle to rotate and catch fire.

Valli escaped the burning vehicle, but he sustained burns in the process, reports say. He was taken to the Delray Beach Medical Center for treatment. An update on his condition was not immediately available following his hospitalization. The Florida Highway Patrol is currently investigating the details of the crash; it is not yet known whether speed or the use of drugs or alcohol played a role.
