Carranza, 30, taught biology at Dr. Michael Krop High School, 1410 County Line Road. He faces one count of committing a lewd and lascivious act on a victim between 12 and 16.
He is being held in Broward Main Jail on $50,000 bond and was ordered to stay away from Krop High School and the victim.
Miami-Dade firefighter Kevin Kerlin was formally indicted on felony charges this week after he allegedly solicited a minor through a series of sexual messages on social media.
Kerlin, 45, is being charged with unlawful use of a two-way communication device and solicitation of a minor.

Seckler, 64, faces charges of using a computer to lure a child and traveling to meet a child. He is being held at Palm Beach County main jail on $53,000 bond. The press did not name an attorney for him.
