Earl-Lewis-1-300x169Police have arrested Earl Lewis of Miami-Dade, Florida for allegedly crashing into Jose Eduardo Cepeda Luna, 57, and his son Eduardo Cepeda, 34, on the side of the Dolphin Expressway. Lewis then allegedly stole the car of one of the victims to escape.

Lewis, 32, faces charges for leaving the scene of a fatal accident, driving without a license, and grand-theft auto. He was booked into Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center, where he is being held on $2 million bond. It is unclear if he has acquired the services of an attorney.

fatherson-hit-and-runFather and son Jose Eduardo Cepeda Luna, 57, and Cesar Eduardo Cepeda, 34, were killed on the morning of February 9 in a hit-and-run crash on the Turnpike in northwest Miami-Dade.

According to FHP investigators, Cesar Cepeda was driving a Chevrolet Silverado pickup east on SR-836 when he lost control and crashed into a guardrail.

Stranded on the side of the highway, Cepeda called his father, who arrived shortly after in a Chevrolet Equinox. Investigators believe the two men were outside their vehicles when a Chevrolet Camaro hit them.

Michael-Jumpp-242x300Michael Jumpp of Fort Lauderdale, Florida turned himself in on December 31 after he reportedly caused a hit-and-run crash that severely injured 15-year-old Cedric Tipton and killed 13-year-old Zahgwe Saint Dic.

Jumpp, 19, faces charges for driving a car without a valid license, failing to stop at the scene of a crash causing serious bodily injury, and failing to stop at the scene of a crash involving death. He appeared in bond court last week and was released on $15,000 bond.

Adrian-Perez-237x300Adrian Perez of Davie, Florida was arrested on August 11 for his alleged involvement in a July hit-and-run accident that severely injured cyclist Michelle Holguin.

Perez, 21, turned himself in on Friday night and faces charges for leaving the scene of an accident resulting in injury and tampering with or fabricating evidence. He remains in police custody and will be placed on house arrest if he manages to post bail. The press did not name an attorney for him.

Sybil-Simon-300x169Psychiatrist Dr. Sibyl Simon of Coral Springs, Florida turned herself in after she was tracked down by a Florida Highway Patrol trooper for allegedly causing a crash on Florida’s Turnpike and fleeing the scene of the accident.

Simon, 38, faces charges for tampering with evidence and criminal mischief. She was released from jail on July 31 after posting $10,000 bond. News sources did not say if she has hired an attorney.
