Andre-Leite-240x300Andre Leite of Coconut Creek, Florida was arrested last month for allegedly defrauding the city of Deerfield Beach of $300,000 by wrongfully representing himself as a licensed plumber. Leite, 50, was charged with fraud, money laundering, grand theft, forgery, and working as an unlicensed contractor.

According to the arrest report, Leite, who owns Andre Plumbing, was hired to fix toilets and sinks at city facilities from 2012 to 2016. He reportedly applied to become the city’s plumber by submitting the certificate and license number of Glaydson Machado Silva, the owner of GMS Plumbing in Fort Lauderdale.

Brian-Newby-300x169Ronald Newby and his son, Brian Newby, were arrested this week as accomplices of a former Fort Lauderdale public works supervisor who allegedly misused his city-issued charge cards to buy expensive tools which he would pawn for cash.

The Newbys, of Coconut Creek, were arrested for dealing in stolen property. Brian Newby, 24, faces 55 theft-related charges and is being held on $82,500 bond in Broward Main Jail. Ronald Newby, 59, faces 18 theft-related charges. His bond was not immediately available. It is unclear if either of them has acquired the services of an attorney.

Christine-Arguelles-254x300Christina Arguelles of Coconut Creek, Florida is behind bars after her 14-year-old daughter and a classmate allegedly brought THC-laced candies to a Coconut Creek middle school. Arguelles, 33, is being charged with possession of THC with intent to sell, contributing to the delinquency of a minor, and two counts of child neglect because she also has an 8-year-old son.

She was ordered held in lieu of a $117,500 bond. After learning of her bond, she reportedly tried to plead with Judge Michael Davis during her first court appearance to lower the amount saying she has been “under a lot of stress,” but the judge did not comply with her request. It is unclear if Arguelles has acquired the services of an attorney.

Daniel RushDaniel Rush, a police officer from Coconut Creek, Florida was arrested last Thursday for allegedly sexually assaulting two teenage boys. He faces two counts of lewd and lascivious molestation and one count of sexual assault on a minor. Rush, 26, is being held without bail in Broward County Jail. It is unclear whether Rush has acquired the services of a lawyer.

Rush is one of the founders of a youth mentoring organization called Men of Virtue & Ethics, which helps young men better their lifestyle through character building, mentoring, and the development of various skills. Broward Sheriff’s Office did not specify if the two boys who claim to have been molested by Rush are members of his mentoring organization.
