A Lauderhill mother and her two children had to be hospitalized with serious injuries after a hit-and-run driver pushed them off the road and caused them to crash into a tree. The names of the woman, 35, and her two kids (aged 4 and 8) have not yet been released.

According to Lauderhill Police and Fire Rescue, the crash took place near Pine Island Road and Commercial Boulevard a little before 11 a.m. on January 14. The woman was driving a BMW when a dark-colored vehicle police described as a “multi-seat, limousine-style bus” purportedly performed an illegal U-turn in front of her. This forced her to swerve out of the way and crash into a tree, sources allege.

Nadia Pierre-Louis of North Lauderdale, Florida was arrested on Tuesday for her alleged connection to a hit-and-run crash that led to the death of Jay Edelstein of Fort Lauderdale. Pierre-Louis, 25, faces one count of failure to stop and remain at an accident involving a death.

She was booked into Broward Main Jail and ordered held in lieu of a $250,000 bond by Broward Judge Michael Davis. The judge also ordered her to surrender her passport and green card because she might be a flight risk. It is unclear if she has acquired the services of an attorney.

Philip Varsam of Delray Beach, Florida surrendered to police on Tuesday to face charges for an alleged hit-and-run crash that severely injured cyclist Alkiva Douglas of Fort Lauderdale. The crash reportedly occurred on New Year’s night and left Douglas with severe brain damage.

Varsam, 28, was arrested on suspicion of failing to remain at the scene of an accident involving a serious injury. He was transferred from Delray Beach to Broward Main Jail for a brief court appearance on Tuesday. His bond was set at $30,000 by Broward County Judge Michael Davis. The judge also ordered Varsam to surrender his passport.

Christopher Mohr of Weston, Florida was fatally struck in a hit-and-run accident early on New Year’s Day. He is survived by his wife of 26 years and two children. Investigators are still searching for the driver and urge anyone with information to come forward.

According to Broward Sheriff’s Office, Mohr, 50, was cycling a mile east of the Indian Trace Intersection on a bike lane on State Road 84 some time after 7:30 a.m. He was reportedly struck from behind by a driver who fled the scene of the accident. Fire rescue workers rushed Mohr to Broward Health Medical Center, where he died from his injuries.

Eric Abraham of Fort Lauderdale, Florida was arrested on Tuesday morning after running a red light and causing an accident. The crash led to the death of Christianne Weiner of Parkland and left her 11-year-old son in critical condition.

Abraham, 17, was reportedly running from police when the accident occurred. He faces several charges, including vehicular homicide, reckless driving causing serious bodily injury or death, aggravated fleeing, driving without a license causing serious bodily injury or death, and possession of a stolen vehicle. It is unclear if bond has been set for Abraham or if he has sought legal representation.
