This is the first robbery of illegal internet gambling cafes in the area. Additionally, and separately, the sheriff’s office has been working to shut down these illegal internet gambling cafes. It is not known at this time if anyone involved in the incident has retained an attorney.

 

Tavares, Florida has been a frequent venue for illegal internet gambling cafes and law enforcement crackdowns on such establishments. In 2018, the owner of one illegal internet gambling café was arrested on related gambling allegation with police finding TV screens and 50 hard drives for computers during the investigation.

man-wearing-black-officer-uniform-1464230-300x200UPS driver Frank Ordonez, 27, was killed in a shootout after a truck hijacking while on the job in Miramar, Florida on December 5. The incident, which has received international news coverage, culminated in 18 law enforcement officers firing into the delivery vehicle. It is not clear whether any of the parties involved have retained lawyers

The incident started in Coral Gables, an affluent suburb of Miami. Ordonez was working a different route due to a colleague who had called out sick and whose route needed coverage. While on the route, Ordonez’s UPS truck was hijacked at approximately 4:15 p.m. by Hill and Alexander, who had allegedly just robbed Regents Jewelry on Miracle Mile. Shots were reportedly fired during the robbery, although it isn’t clear whether anyone was hurt.

Andre Allen of West Boynton, Florida was arrested on Tuesday for his involvement in the theft of $28,000 that was to be exchanged for Bitcoin, a digital currency commonly used for online transactions. Allen, 34, faces charges for burglary, armed robbery, and battery. He is being held in Palm Beach County Jail in lieu of a $31,000 bond. The press did not specify an attorney for Allen.

According to the arrest report, the alleged robbery took place on Monday on the parking lot of a restaurant on 2024 Military Trail. Steve Manos, the victim of the robbery, met with two men who he has purportedly done business with on several occasions. On this occasion, Manos, 32, wanted to exchange $28,000 in cash for Bitcoin.
