indoors-light-locomotive-2934282-300x158Curtis Simmons, a 32-year-old man from Elkridge, Maryland, was stopped by two unarmed officials on June 17th, 2019. Simmons was in the JetBlue kiosk area at Fort Lauderdale International Airport in Broward County, Florida. He had a direct flight to Los Angeles at 7:15 PM, having “missed [his] flight the day before.” 

Simmons was approached by the detectives, who were officials of the Narcotics and Money Laundering Task Force. The task force is led by Florida’s Broward County’s Sheriff’s Office. The civil forfeiture report filed for Simmons’ case stated that, after being questioned, Simmons allowed the cops to search his luggage: a carry-on suitcase and a backpack.

airport-amsterdam-arrival-2069-300x199TSA agents at the Baltimore Washington International Airport (BWI) discovered a rocket launcher in the American Airlines baggage area on Thursday, news sources report. This was the second rocket launcher seized at the airport this week. It does not appear as though any criminal charges have been filed.

The Office of the Maryland State Fire Marshall reported that the item was discovered at around 5:20 a.m. and the bomb squad was called in immediately.                            Continue reading

U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) have seized more than $11,000 in unreported currency from a Nigerian man who was departing the United States aboard a private aircraft. In compliance with privacy laws, the traveler’s name has not been released because he was not charged with a crime.

According to the official report, CBP officers flagged the man for a compliance examination after discovering he had previous federal currency reporting violations. The Nigerian man reportedly failed to fill out a financial reporting form and declare the cash he was carrying as required by federal law. CBP officers found and seized $11,647 in U.S. dollars, Euros, and British pounds. The traveler was released to continue his trip once the seizure was completed.

Davante Garrett, 22; Desmond Waul, 22; and Janice Waul, 24, of New York were arrested at Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport last Monday night. Violence broke out at the airport when 11 flights were canceled by Spirit Airlines, disrupting the travel plans of hundreds of passengers.

The three New Yorkers reportedly screamed at Spirit Airlines’ airport staff and threatened to fight them, which caused the crowd to become more aggressive. They were charged with disorderly conduct, inciting a riot, resisting arrest, and trespassing. All three were released from jail the following day.
