Steven Frezza of Pembroke Pines, Florida was arrested Monday after he was accused of taking a 15-year-old runaway to his home and sexually assaulting her, news sources indicate. Frezza, 28, was booked into the Broward County Jail on charges of promoting sexual activity of a person under 16 and lewd and lascivious behavior. His bail bond was set at $50,000. It is not yet known whether he has hired a lawyer.
Reports say Frezza initially met the teenager outside of a Dunkin Donuts shop located along the 60th Avenue in Hollywood. The two began to talk and the victim reportedly told Frezza that her mother had kicked her out of the house (for unspecified reasons) and that she was a pupil at the McArthur High School in Hollywood.
After the two had chatted for a while, Frezza allegedly invited the girl to lunch at a restaurant not far from the donut shop. He drove the girl to Checkers and bought her something to eat, after which the victim asked to be taken back to Dunkin Donuts, sources say. Instead, Frezza purportedly drove her to his residence on the 2000 block of NW 85th Ave in Pembroke Pines. The victim reportedly asked the man to take her back to the shop several times during the drive, but Frezza allegedly refused.
The victim later told police that once she arrived at Frezza’s home, he led her inside to a bedroom. There he allegedly told her to lie down. When she complied, he allegedly removed her clothes and began to molest her. During the alleged assault, the girl repeatedly asked for him to stop, sources say. At some point he did stop, not actually going as far as raping the victim. He reportedly said to the girl, “Fine, I’ll take you back now. It is a good thing that you made me stop.”
After the assault, Frezza took the girl back to the Dunkin Donuts, sources say. After hearing about the incident, though it is not clear whether the girl reported it immediately, police droved to Frezza’s home and placed him under arrest. During police questioning, Frezza reportedly admitted to having sexual contact with the girl despite knowing she was a minor.
Frezza was not the only South Florida man charged with sexual assault recently. Michael Todd Dowd of Palm Beach County, Florida was arrested Monday after he was accused of sexually assaulting a disabled woman under his care, reports indicate. Dowd, 42, was booked into police custody on sexual assault charges. It is unclear whether he qualified for bail or if he has hired legal representation.
Reports say the disabled woman, who was not identified by name or age, was under Dowd’s care during the time of the alleged assault. According to reports, Dowd reportedly placed the woman’s foot against his groin and attempted to remove her undergarments. Reports say he also kissed the woman’s face and neck inappropriately. Dowd also allegedly forced the woman to put nail polish on his toenails and then proceeded to paint her toenails, though this is not exactly criminal in nature.
