Stefan Basinski of Hypoluxo, Florida Killed in Collision

Stefan Basinski of Hypoluxo, Florida was killed in a scooter-truck crash Sunday, news sources report. Information regarding the other driver’s identity was not immediately available; that driver reportedly did not sustain injuries. Basinski, 52, was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash. Police are currently conducting an investigation to determine the exact cause of the accident. It is not yet known whether there will be charges or if anyone will file for damages.

According to reports, the accident occurred at around 5:00 Sunday morning at the intersection of Lakeshore Drive and Federal Highway in Hypoluxo. Basinski was on a scooter when he allegedly made a left turn into the path of a Ford F-150. Sources indicate that Basinski failed to yield the right-of-way for the truck, which ended up crashing into him.

Basinski died at the scene; an investigation is currently open. Police reportedly said, “Narcotic and/or alcohol impairment is believed to be a factor.”

Unfortunately, traffic accidents are a common cause of death in Florida. Parasram Nandalall of Margate was killed in a one-vehicle crash Saturday, reports say. Nandalall, 21, died at the scene of the accident. Police are currently conducting an investigation to determine what factors led to the deadly crash.

According to reports, the accident occurred at around 11:00 Saturday evening. Nandalall was reportedly westbound on Royal Palm Avenue when, for reasons not yet known, he lost control of his 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The jeep left the street, plowed through the back yard of a home on Northwest 68th Avenue, tipped a tree, and then rolled into a canal, sources say. “It must have been going at a high rate of speed, based on the destruction,” a nearby resident reportedly told the press after the collision. “The tree was pulled out by the roots.”

Paramedics and dive teams searched the canal throughout Sunday and could not find Nandalall’s body. The jeep was hoisted out of the water early Sunday morning and search crews continued their hunt for Nandalall’s body without any luck. In the end, Nandalall was not found until 2:30 Monday morning, reports indicate. The crash is still under investigation and Margate police are asking anyone with additional information to contact their Traffic Unit.

In another recent one-vehicle accident, a man and woman were injured when their golf cart overturned in The Acreage Sunday, sources say. Information regarding the victims’ identities was not immediately available following the incident. Police are currently conducting an investigation to determine what exactly happened.

According to reports, the crash occurred around 2:00 Sunday afternoon at the intersection of Apache Boulevard and 93rd Street North. The details of the crash are not yet known; however, paramedics reportedly arrived on the scene and found the golf cart overturned in the center of the street.

Both of the victims were air-rushed via helicopter to St. Mary’s Medical Center. An investigation is ongoing and it is not yet known whether speed, alcohol, or another contributing factor led to the crash. An update on the victims’ conditions was not available at press time.
