Robert Craig Adamson of Boynton Beach, Florida was arrested on June 29 for allegedly downloading and viewing several child pornography images.
Adamson, 30, faces 8 counts of transmitting and 4 counts of possession of child pornography. He is being held in Palm Beach County Jail and his bond was set at $60,000 on Saturday morning by Judge Jaimie Goodman. The press did not name an attorney for him.
According to the arrest report, detectives started investigating Adamson last month after receiving a tip from the South Florida Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force. Internet activity that was traced to Adamson revealed that he allegedly uploaded several images of young girls who were either sexually exposed or engaged in sexual acts.
Investigators executed a search warrant at Adamson’s apartment in Boynton Beach on Friday. They found a laptop computer, a digital camera, and three cellphones. Adamson allegedly described the pictures police found on his computer as “disgusting” and said he “wanted nothing to with them,” the report said.
Another child pornography case was reported last week in Broward County. Former Apollo Middle School teacher Ronald Sherman was arrested on June 21 for allegedly uploading child pornography on a social media website.
Sherman, 55, was charged with possession of child pornography and promoting the sexual performance of a child. He was ordered held on $240,000 bond. It is unclear if he has acquired an attorney.
According to the arrest report, detectives started investigating Sherman in January 2018 after they received a tip about a user who was uploading child pornography images on Tumblr. The images reportedly depicted young Caucasian and Asian girls in the nude and in sexually suggestive positions.
Detectives obtained a search warrant and searched Sherman’s home on January 31. Sherman allegedly admitted that he was the owner of the Tumblr account, but said he stopped using it after it was deactivated for “inappropriate activity” that violated Tumblr’s terms of service.
The Tumblr account in question “reblogged” more than 4,000 pornographic images and videos before it was shut down. 800 of the images depicted naked or half-naked children between 3 and 12 years of age. Detectives showed Sherman some of the pictures and he told them that he thought the images were artistic, not sexual, according to the report.
Sherman said he only shared content he found on other Tumblr accounts. He told investigators he never uploaded pictures because he “wasn’t really trying to do the kiddie porn thing,” the report said.
Possession of child pornography is a third-degree felony punishable by up to 20 years in prison for every count. Sharing child pornography is a second degree felony with much harsher penalties, but production of child pornography carries the harshest penalties as a first degree felony.
