Pompano Beach, Florida Construction Employee Injured at Work

A Pompano Beach, Florida construction employee working on a new Marriott Hotel was hurt in a construction accident Monday after something fell on him, news sources indicate. The employee, who reports did not identify by name, was escorted to the Broward Health North Hospital following the incident. His condition has not been disclosed. It is not yet known whether a lawsuit may surface in relation to the injury.

Reports say the accident occurred around 9:00 Monday morning while the employee was doing work on the unfinished Marriott Hotel, located of North Ocean Boulevard in Pompano Beach. Reports did not identify the construction company by name. According to reports, the employee was on the eighth floor when something fell from above and hit him. Reports did not say what the object was, but it was reportedly large enough to inflict injury on the man. It is not clear whether the object fell due to negligence, a structural problem, or some other factor.

Paramedics from the Pompano Beach Fire Rescue team arrived on the scene and had to lower the man from the building using a fire engine’s ladder. Rescue workers took the man to the nearby Broward Health North Hospital. Reports say the man appeared lucid and was able to talk. The details of his injuries remain unknown.

In other news, six people were injured in a multiple vehicle crash in Broward County, Florida on Monday, reports indicate. The accident involved six vehicles and occurred on a stretch of State Road 84. The names of the six people injured were not immediately shared with the public. Four of the victims were taken to the Westside Regional Medical Center, while the other two were taken to the Broward Health Medical Center. No life-threatening injuries were reported.

Reports say the accident occurred when one vehicle driving in the westbound lanes of State Road 84 did not stop at a marked spot. The driver apparently continued forward, hitting five vehicles. The Florida Highway patrol is still investigating the incident. In more accident-related news out of Broward County, a collision involving a commercial vehicle on I-75 Tuesday resulted in the death of one driver and the injury of another, reports say. Reports did not identify the injured and deceased party by name. The injured driver, identified as the driver of a semi-truck, was taken to a nearby hospital. His condition was unknown as of the latest reports.

Reports say the accident occurred around 2:00 Tuesday evening on a stretch of Interstate 75 near mile maker 25. While the details of the accident remain unclear, reports say a car collided with the back end of a semi-tractor trailer. The driver of the smaller vehicle was pronounced dead at the scene while the other driver was rushed to a nearby hospital.
