Kevin Wynne of Lake Mary, Florida Arrested for Sabra Vocatuno Hit-And-Run Death

Kevin Wynne of Lake Mary, Florida was arrested after authorities accused him fleeing the scene of a car accident that killed an area woman named Sabra Vocaturo, according to news reports. Wynne, 43, was reportedly booked into Seminole County Jail on charges of leaving the scene of a crash involving a death. He has since been released aftr posting $50,000 bail bond, according to news reports. It is not clear whether Wynne has retained a private criminal defense lawyer. If convicted as charged, Wynne could face up to 30 years behind bars.

Sources indicate that authorities are investigating the possibility of alcohol impairment in connection with the February 26th combination car and motorcycle accident, which reportedly occurred in Volusia County on State Road 415. Authorities apparantly believe that Wynne was driving his Infiniti QX-56 sports utility vehicle at the time of the crash, which occurred at approximately 7:00 on a rainy evening. According to reports, Wynne had closed out a tab at around 5:30 p.m. at Gnarley Surf Bar & Grill in New Smyrna Beach. It is not clear what exactly he ordered at the eatery, nor is it clear whether additional charges of driving under the influence will be pursued.

Sabra Vocatuno, 50, was reportedly riding a Harley Davidson motorcycle when the crash ocured. Authorities reportedly believe that Wynne struck Vocatuno from behind as she rode on State Road 415, accompanied by her husband on another motorcycle. The impact of the crash sent her into the other lane where she was reportedly struck by two vehicles. Witnesses, including Vocatuno’s husband, indicated that the vehicle that hit Vocatuno fled the area without stopping. It does not appear as though any of the witnesses have spoken publicly about the incident.

Cell phone records allegedly indicate that Wynne was at the accident site during the time that the crash occurred. Following the accident, Wynne allegedly parked his SUV in a Sav-a-Lot store parking lot in Howland Boulevard about 12 miles away from the accident site. Investigations into the incident reportedly led detectives to the SUV, which was still parked in the Sav-a-Lot parking lot. Using a broken car part left at the accident site, investigators reportedly were able to confirm that the Infinti was indeed the hit-and-run vehicle.

After parking the car in the store lot, Wynne allegedly called a friend to ask for a ride, leaving the stricken vehicle. The friend allegedly picked him up and drove him to his home in Heathrow. It is not known whether authorities are considering charging her as an accomplice.

An Orlando attorney apparently provided Florida Highway Patrol authorities with the keys to the vehicle, although she has not commented publicly on the incident. However, according to a a FHP spokesperson, investigators “received no phone calls from anybody, including the owner or the owner’s legal representation, until after the media put that we were looking for a white Infiniti QX-56 made between 2010 and 2012… after investigators obtained the vehicle, no information was provided by the legal representation or the owner as to who was driving.”

News sources indicate that Wynne is an Orlando-based chiropractor who works out of Wynne Chiropractic & Physical Therapy in Lake Mary, Florida. It is unlikely that the charges will affect his ability to continue to practice as a doctor.
