John Collazos of Davie, Florida Arrested for Practicing Unlicensed Dentistry

John Collazos of Davie, Florida was arrested Wednesday for allegedly operating an unlicensed dentistry out of a warehouse in Davie, news sources indicate. Collazos is also accused of inappropriately touching one female patient during treatment, reports say. Collazos, 47, was booked into the Broward County Jail on one count of battery, four counts of practicing dentistry without a license, and four counts of using dental equipment. It is unclear whether he has qualified for bail bond. It is also not yet known whether he has hired an attorney..

Reports say Collazos first attracted the interest of authorities by operating an unlicensed dentistry office in Hollywood, Florida. However, before police could charge him with a crime, reports say Collazos closed the office and moved to Davie. He fell under scrutiny again in September, when Davie police reportedly arrested him for practicing dentistry without a valid license. It is unclear whether he was charged in that arrest.

Reports say this more recent incident occurred in November. According to reports, Collazos was operating an unlicensed dentistry office from a warehouse located along South State Road 7 in Davie. A witness at a nearby business told reporters, “Six months ago, this gentleman [Collazos] opened a dental shop, and I started seeing people come in,” adding “He [Collazos] always was wearing his mask, and his scrub, like a dental scrub.”

Detectives allege that Collazos primarily treated illegal immigrants, reports indicate. One undocumented woman reportedly visited the dentist on November 19, 2010 with a toothache. During her visit, she alleges that Collazos looked inside her mouth, treated the pain with medication, and then gave her a shot in her buttock. After injecting her, she claims that Collazos leaned in and planted a kiss on her rear. One police report details the incident, saying, “When she [the victim] came on one of the visits, he made some sexually overt comments and ultimately touched her inappropriately.”

Police have since announced that there may be more victims and ask that anyone who may be a victim or have more information to come forward. An investigation into the alleged sexual misconduct and unlicensed dentistry is ongoing.

In other news, Jillian Martone of Boca Raton, Florida was arrested Wednesday after she allegedly assaulted her date during an argument, reports say. Martone, 35, was booked into the Palm Beach County Jail on charges relating to the incident. It is unclear whether she qualified for bail or hired legal representation.

Reports say the incident occurred around 12:00 Wednesday morning at the victim’s home on the 300 block of Northwest 67th Street. The victim had apparently invited Martone to his home after the two went out on a first date. However, Martone reportedly grew upset when the victim denied that the two were a couple. Enraged, Martone allegedly threatened the man with a knife, forcing him to kick her out of his home. Martone, once outside, allegedly smashed the victim’s window with a large rock. Meanwhile, the victim called authorities, and police arrived and escorted Martone to jail.
