Jessie Suarez of Miami, Florida Arrested and Faces Charges for Kidnapping, Lewd and Lascivious Conduct, and Sexual Battery on a Minor

Jessie Suarez of Miami, Florida was arrested last week for allegedly raping a 15-year-old girl who was visiting his home with her family. Suarez, 32, faces charges of sexual battery, kidnapping, lewd and lascivious molestation, and lewd and lascivious conduct with a minor. News reports did not specify a lawyer for Suarez.

According to the arrest report, the teenage girl was visiting Suarez’s home for a family gathering on January 9. She told detectives that Suarez allegedly lured her into his bedroom and forcibly began kissing her.

The teen then claims that Suarez told her to go and clean her face in the bathroom because her makeup was smudged. As she was using the facilities, Suarez allegedly followed her, grabbed her arms, and took her back to the bedroom, He then threw her on his bed where he purportedly raped her.

The arrest report states that the teen successfully identified Suarez by his Florida driver’s license photo, and this led to his arrest last Wednesday. He is being held at the Turner Knight Correctional Center without bail.

Suarez is the owner of Next Level K9, a South Florida dog training company. His business and training methods have been featured on various news outlets including the Miami Herald, Deco Drive, CBS, and CNN.

Statistics from the Crimes Against Children Research Center show that 1 in 20 boys and 1 in 5 girls is a victim of child sexual abuse. Data the center gathered in a one-year period in the U.S. showed 16% of youth between the ages 14 to 17 had been sexually victimized.

In Florida, between 361,923 and 596,458 children are or will become victims of sexual abuse before turning 18. That’s between 9% and 15% of Florida’s current child population.
