A Hallandale Beach, Florida pharmacy got a shock when a car went barreling through its front window on Tuesday, news sources report. The accident occurred when a driver in her nineties mistook the gas petal for the brake while attempting to park. The press identified the driver only by her first name: Rosalind. Police are currently conducting an investigation and have not said whether charges will be filed. It is unclear whether the business owners will file a suit.
According to reports, the accident occurred at the Hallandale Pharmacy, located at a plaza on East Hallandale Beach Boulevard. There are a number of businesses located at the plaza, including the pharmacy and a hair salon. The driver was at the plaza that day to have her hair done, reports say.
As Rosalind was pulling into a parking space in front of the Pharmacy, she accidently pushed down on the gas instead of the brake, she later told the press. “I was pulling in and I didn’t seem to hit the brake and I went right through the window,” the victim told reporters. The victim’s Toyota Corolla accelerated through the glass storefront of Hallandale Pharmacy.
Sources say there were over a dozen people in the pharmacy, including customers and staff, at the time of the crash. Fortunately, no one was injured. Hallandale Beach Fire Rescue units evaluated Rosalind at the scene and determined she was unhurt.
When asked about the accident, Rosalind said, “I had a cataract operation April 3rd and I’m probably not all better from it.”
“I guess the good thing is that you weren’t hurt,” a reporter told the victim on the scene.
“And nobody else was hurt either,” the victim said.
Reports did not say whether the pharmacy’s structural integrity was jeopardized in the collision. After her health was given the all clear, Rosalind walked to the salon to have her hair done, reports say. It is not known how much damage her car sustained.
