Dr. Wendell Allan Wall of Key West, Florida, was arrested on October 31 after he allegedly punched his wife, Dr. Denise McSherry, during a heated argument at their home. Wall, 64, faces one count of domestic battery. He was booked into Stock Island county jail and released later that evening without having to post bail. The press did not name an attorney for Wall.
According to the arrest report, the alleged incident occurred at the couple’s Jamaica Drive home. McSherry, 49, told police that her husband pushed her off a bed after he became angry over an issue involving their pets. She said Wall then came after her and pushed her a second time.
When she tried to leave the room, Wall allegedly hit her in the face, giving her a bloody lip, and “continued to yell at her,” wrote Officer Thaddeus Calvert in his report. McSherry reportedly armed herself with a kitchen knife and locked herself in a bedroom to wait for police after Wall
Wall reportedly told Calvert that he held McSherry down and covered her mouth with his hand to get her to stop yelling, but he never explained her injuries. Wall also told police that McSherry kept using an expletive to taunt him when they argued over her alleged abuse of sleeping pills. State records show McSherry, whose practicing license in Florida is void, paid a $6,548 fine in 2008 to settle a case brought by the Florida Department of Health accusing her of prescribing pain medication over the Internet.
McSherry told police she wanted to pursue charges against Wall. Wall has been a practicing gynecologist for over 20 years. He used to work in Minnesota, and still holds a license to practice in that state, before moving to Florida. He founded the OB/Gyn Board Prep, an organization that offers prep courses for board exams doctors must pass to receive certification in gynecology.
