A Davie, Florida police officer was injured in a car accident with another vehicle on Wednesday, news sources report. The identities of those involved in the crash were not immediately available. The officer sustained a head injury in the collision, but is expected to make a full recovery. It is unclear whether the other driver was injured. Police are currently conducting an investigation to determine the cause of the accident; as of now, no charges have been filed. It remains to be seen whether either party will file a suit.
According to reports, the accident occurred around 4:00 Wednesday evening on Orange Drive near the 4500 block Nob Hill Road. Orange Drive is a simple two-lane road, whose lanes are separated by a yellow line. The officer was northbound on Orange Drive and was attempting to turn onto Nob Road when another vehicle crashed into the cruiser. The officer may have been on duty at the time of the crash.
Paramedics took the officer to a nearby hospital. Sources say she sustained a head injury but is in stable condition. The injuries were not life threatening. “[The victim] was conscious and talking on the way to the hospital,” a police spokesperson said. It was not immediately clear whether the other driver was injured. So far, charges or a possible citation may be pending, though it is unclear who was at fault in the accident.
In other news, Christina Shiver and Alexia Douglas of St. Petersburg were involved in a roadside collision on Friday, reports say. Shiver, 16, was driving when she allegedly became distracted and veered off the street. Douglas, also 16, was riding in the passenger seat at the time; she died at the scene. Detectives are currently investigating the accident and have not said whether charges will be filed. It is also unclear whether Douglas’s family will file for damages.

The victim sustained critical injuries and was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment. Police are investigating the crash. It is unclear whether the driver will be charged.
