David Korsun, Broward County, Florida High School Teacher, Accused of Sexting Student

David Korsun, a Broward County, Florida high school teacher, was reassigned Monday after he was accused of pursuing an inappropriate relationship with a student, news sources say. Korsun, 36, allegedly sent sexually explicit text messages to a student and had inappropriate sexual contact with said person. An internal investigation into the allegations is ongoing; it remains to be seen whether police will become involved now that the story had gone public. So far, Korsun has not been found of any wrongdoing and has not been charged with a crime. It is not yet known whether he has preemptively hired a lawyer.

Reports say Korsun got a teaching degree at Western Connecticut State University in 2000 and moved to Fort Lauderdale, Florida sometime later. He began working for the South Florida school district in 2005. In the time leading up to his reassignment, Korsun was working for the Cypress Bay High School located off Vista Park Boulevard in Weston, Florida. Records show the school, which was founded in 2002, teaches grades 9 through 12. Korsun is listed as a social studies teacher and wrestling coach aide at the high school.

A spokesperson from the school commented on the allegations and the reassignment, saying, “[Reassignment] is something that is very common whenever these types of allegations are made. The investigation will look at all the allegations thoroughly.”

The details surrounding the alleged sexual relationship remain sketchy. A spokesperson from the school could not comment on the claims pending the ongoing investigation. However, it is known that Korsun is accused of having a sexual relationship with a student, a minor. During that alleged relationship, Korsun reportedly sent the student sexually explicit text messages. It is not clear how old or what gender the purported victim is.

Korsun is not the only Florida resident accused of having inappropriate contact with children recently. Lee Williams of Hialeah, Florida was arrested Friday after he was accused of sexually abusing a number of victims from as far back as 1973, reports say. Following his arrest, three more victims came forward to say they were abused by the man. Williams was booked into police custody on charges of lewd and lascivious molestation of a child and sexual battery on a minor. It is unclear whether he qualified for bail bond or if he has hired legal representation.

According to reports, Williams allegedly molested a 7-year-old girl sometime during the last several months. However, it is unclear whether Williams had custody of the child or knew her through some other medium. Detectives also accuse Williams of molesting a 12-year-old girl sometime in 2011. The details surrounding that victim’s alleged sexual abuse are also unclear.

Following his arrest, reports say three more victims, all now adults, came forward and said Williams molested them when they were younger. Some of the alleged abuse dates back to 1973, sources say. Police continue to investigate the allegations and say that more victims may come forward as the case moves forward. Thus far, it appears as though Williams has remained mum about the accusations.
