Bruce Muehfelder of Southwest Ranches, Florida was arrested on July 28 after authorities allegedly seized hundreds of printed pictures of children and boxes of children’s clothing during a raid of his home. Muehfelder, 62, faces 31 counts of possession of child pornography.
During his first-appearance court session last Friday, a judge ordered him held in lieu of $155,000 bond. The judge also stated that Muehfelder, if he posted bail, was not allowed to use the internet. News sources did not specify a lawyer for Muehler.
According to the arrest report, police received five tips over the past year from the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children about persons who were distributing pornographic pictures on Twitter.
Police launched an investigation in an attempt to confirm that all five tips could be linked back to the same person, and they allegedly managed to link two of the Twitter handles to an email account purportedly owned by Muehfelder. All his Twitter accounts have since been shut down.
The police raid of Muehfelder’s home on Southwest 61st Street was carried out by Davie police and members of the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force. They allegedly found printed pictures of children, thumb drives, computers, CDs, and a closet “filled from floor to ceiling with boxes of child porn.” Investigators claim that some of the pictures found in the house were framed.
Investigators are currently trying to determine if there are any victims connected to the pictures found in Muehfelder’s home, and they are asking that anyone with information to please step forward and contact Davie police.
