Antoinette Bryant Charged for Manatee, Florida Car Accident

Antoinette Bryant was charged in connection to a Manatee, Florida car accident, according to news reports. Bryant, 42, faces charges of careless driving and driving with a suspended license. Another driver who got caught up in the accident, 27-year-old Brandon Daniels, was charged with having an expired license and no proof of insurance. It is not clear whether either party has retained a private criminal defense attorney, nor is it known whether the other persons involved in the six-vehicle accident plan on filing for damages.

According to news reports, the collision occurred on Thursday at the intersection of 53rd Avenue East and U.S. 301 in Manatee, Florida. The 8:30 a.m. accident allegedly began when Bryant, who was driving on U.S. 301, failed to stop at a red light. It is not yet clear why she failed to stop, whether due to a mechanical failure or some other problem. The accident is likely still under investigation.

Nonetheless, Bryant allegedly drove her Ford Taurus into the back of a Honda Civic which was stopped at the traffic light. The impact of the crash caused the Civic to turn, hitting a Dodge Dakota. Then the Dakota began to turn, although sources indicate it did not strike another vehicle.

Meanwhile, Bryant’s Taurus continues to move forward. It reportedly struck a Toyota Corolla, which struck a Ford Expedition, which struck a Lincoln Towncar in a chain reaction. Other than Bryant and Daniels, the drivers involved in the crash have remained anonymous. It is not clear how many passengers were involved.

Bryant was taken to Blake Medical Center for treatment for her injuries, which were apparently minor. It is not known whether she had to be booked into jail because of her charges. All of the other drivers (save Daniels) were injured, although no one seriously. The driver of the Civic and Dakota, the first and second cars affected, were transported to Manatee Memorial Hospital, while the driver of the Corolla was taken to Lakewood Ranch Medical Center. The Expedition’s driver also required medical treatment but was not taken to a hospital via ambulance. The current statuses of those hurt in the crash are not available.

Another Florida driver lost his life this week when he lost control of his vehicle and crashed into a house in Lehigh Acres, according to the press. 30-year-old Jaime Cardona was pronounced dead after he crashed his BMW into a home at the intersection of Parkdale Boulevard and Creuset Avenue South in the early morning hours on Thursday. Florida Highway Patrol officials are looking into the incident to try to determine what caused the crash.

Cardona was driving his vehicle just before 5:00 a.m. when he lost control of his car. His car spun out of control, leaving a trail of 100 feet of wreckage before careening into the home. Luckily, no one was living at the residence that Cardona crashed into. The car went through the outside wall of the home and had to be extracted with the help of cables during cleanup.
