Solomon, 52, of Boynton Beach, has not been criminally charges as an investigation into the accident continues. It is not clear whether Diniz’s family plans on seeking damages.

Paramedics arrived on the scene shortly after the collision and rushed Diniz to the nearby Delray Medical Center with serious injuries, though the nature of those injuries is not publicly known. It appears that Solomon remained at the scene and cooperated with authorities following the crash. An investigation is ongoing, and the FHP has not indicated whether it is considering alcohol, drugs, excessive speed, or inattention as factors in the collision. Investigators will likely look into the lighting at the crosswalk, given that at 6:25 in the morning the driver may have been hard-pressed to see Diniz.
