Eric Abraham of Fort Lauderdale, Florida Arrested for Vehicular Homicide

Eric AbrahamEric Abraham of Fort Lauderdale, Florida was arrested on Tuesday morning after running a red light and causing an accident. The crash led to the death of Christianne Weiner of Parkland and left her 11-year-old son in critical condition.

Abraham, 17, was reportedly running from police when the accident occurred. He faces several charges, including vehicular homicide, reckless driving causing serious bodily injury or death, aggravated fleeing, driving without a license causing serious bodily injury or death, and possession of a stolen vehicle. It is unclear if bond has been set for Abraham or if he has sought legal representation.

According to the police report, the crash took place at the intersection of NW 101st Avenue and West Sample Road in Coral Springs. Abraham was allegedly driving a Toyota Corolla that was stolen in Miami Gardens with three passengers on board.

A license plate recognition camera alerted police of the location of the stolen Toyota. Officers reportedly attempted to stop Abraham, but he allegedly tried to get away by speeding east on Sample Road, running a red light. Weiner, 53, was purportedly driving north and had the green light when Abraham slammed into her Mercedes-Benz.

A witness reportedly saw deputies with their guns drawn ordering Abraham and his passengers to get out of the car and get on the ground. This purportedly occurred before he sped off and crashed into Weiner’s vehicle.

Weiner was seriously injured and later died at Broward Health North. Her son was airlifted to Broward Health Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries. Abraham and his three passengers, one of whom was identified as Tyree Goodwin of Fort Lauderdale, also suffered serious injuries and were taken to Broward Health North.

So far only Abraham faces criminal charges, but the investigation is still ongoing.
