Dario Dotto, an air conditioning repairman from West Palm Beach, Florida, was arrested on Saturday for allegedly beating a woman and leaving her with lacerations on the head and face during a scheduled AC repair visit on Friday.
Dotto, 34, faces kidnapping and attempted murder charges, and an additional charge of cruelty toward a child because he reportedly “restrained” the victim’s children during the alleged beating. Dotto is being held at Palm Beach County Jail without bond. The press did not specify if he has acquired the services of a private attorney.
According to court documents, Dotto is employed by All Time Air Conditioning in Boynton Beach. He was sent by the company to the victim’s West Boynton home to repair her AC on Friday. During the service call, Dotto allegedly tied up the woman’s children and then started beating her in the face and head with an unspecified blunt object. The motive of the alleged attack is unclear.
The victim, whose identity is being withheld, survived the encounter and was taken to Delray Medical Center for treatment. The extent of her injuries has not been released, but authorities say she’s expected to make a full recovery.
County records show that this is not the first time Dotto has been accused of committing a crime in a customer’s home. In 2009 he allegedly broke into a customer’s Royal Palm Beach home five days after he repaired the homeowner’s air conditioner. At the time, Dotto was employed by Florida Air Temp. He was arrested two days later and faced several charges for the incident, all of which were dropped after he pleaded guilty to a burglary charge. He was sentenced to 36 months of probation in 2010.
The All Time Air Conditioning website features several positive ratings and reviews for Dotto including one that calls him “polite, knowledgeable and efficient.” Other reviews describe Dotto as an “excellent service agent.”
