Federico Watkins of Broward County, Florida is Charged With Two Counts of Sexual Assault

Federico WatkinsFederico Watkins of Broward County, Florida is charged with two counts of sexual assault on a 13-year-old girl. Broward County jail records show that Watkins, 31, is being held without bond. News reports did not specify a lawyer for Watkins.

The Lauderhill victim told investigators that the alleged sexual assault took place in 2014. The teen claims that Watkins gave her “Excany” or “sexual pills” that made her feel like having sex.

According to the arrest report, Watkins and the girl allegedly had sex for the first time in February or March of 2014. There were at least four more encounters while Watkins was living in Lauderhill, including some that he purportedly recorded on his phone.

Watkins was reported to police by the girl’s family when they found out about the alleged relationship and a sex video on her computer, news reports say. The arrest report states that Watkins allegedly considered fleeing to his native Panama. He did go to Panama for a short time in June 2014, but he later returned to South Florida.

Watkins was arrested late last month. During his first court appearance, he was told the sexual assault charges he faces are punishable by life in prison. He was also told not to contact anyone involved in the case, according to the press.

Statistics from National Children’s Alliance show that most of the victims of child abuse in Florida are female. Out of 19,379 incidents of abuse that occurred in 2012 in Florida, only 2,441 were committed by someone the victim did not know.
