Weekend Car Accidents Leave 1 Dead, 3 Hopitalized in Palm Beach

At approximately 3pm on Saturday afternoon, Boca residents Philip and Joan Eckstein were about to make a turn onto S.W. 14th Street from Lyons Road when their car was hit by another vehicle.  According to police investigators, the other car was speeding.  That car was driven by 29 year old Jordan Trouf.

According police, Philip Eckstein was unaware of the “impending danger” from Trouf’s car as he turned, because driving faster than the posted 40 mph speed limit. It appears as though the vehicles T-Boned where the front of Trouf’s car impacted the side of the Eckstein’s vehicle.  News reports also indicate that alcohol or drugs are suspected to be a factor in the crash.  Sadly, Philip Eckstein, age 79, is listed in critical condition and his wife, Joan Eckstein, age 75, is listed in serious condition.  Trouf is also hospitalized and listed in serious condition.

In a separate and unrelated accident, Kathy Copp, age 57, reportedly walked into on-coming traffic and was hit by a motor vehicle driven by 22 year old Diana Perez.  According to law enforcement, Copp is suspected of being under the influence at the time of the crash.  Sadly, she later died at Delray Medical Center from her injuries.

Both cases are still under investigation.
