Frantz Joseph of Dania Beach, Florida Killed, Jessica Johnson, Jesse Johnson, Sheena Rogers, and Emmanuel Bruce Injured in Crash

Frantz Joseph of Dania Beach, Florida was killed and Jessica Johnson, Jesse Johnson, Sheena Rogers, and Emmanuel Bruce injured in a two-vehicle collision early Monday, news sources report. Joseph was a cab driver; his passengers were 20-year-old Jessica Johnson of Eustis and 22-year-old Jesse Johnson of Pompano Beach. Sheena Rogers, 28, of Miami and Emmanuel Bruce, 37, of Cutler Bay, were in a pickup truck, sources say. All four injured victims were taken to the Memorial Regional Hospital. Police are currently investigating the incident. It is too early to tell whether charges will be filed or if any of the victims or Joseph’s family will file a suit.

According to reports, the accident occurred at around 3:30 early Monday morning at the intersection of Sheridan Street and Federal Highway in Dania Beach. Joseph was in his taxi, sources say; it is not clear what cab company he worked for. Passengers Jessica and Jesse were riding in the taxi, which was travelling south on Federal Highway. Rogers and Bruce were in a pickup truck, westbound on Sheridan Street, sources indicate.

While the precise details of the crash are still mostly unknown, the two vehicles reportedly met and collided at the intersection. Sadly, Joseph died at the crash site, sources indicate. Jessica, Jesse, Bruce, and Rogers all sustained unspecified injuries and were taken to the Memorial Regional Hospital. An update on their conditions was not immediately available at press time.

Reports indicate that the accident shut down the intersection from the time of the crash until just after 7:00 a.m. Both vehicles had to be towed, sources say; it is not clear whether both were totaled in the accident. The crash remains under investigation.

Driving comes with many dangers attached. Last month, Broward County resident Maryfe Del Pilar Niño was arrested after she fled an officer and crashed into a SUV, injuring the driver, sources report. Niño, 31, was booked into the Broward County Main Jail on charges stemming from the incident, as well as charges from a previous warrant. It is unclear whether she qualified for bail or hired legal representation.

Based on reports, Niño had a warrant for her arrest prior to the incident for charges of battery on an officer, resisting arrest with violence, and possession of narcotics. It is not clear what led to the charges.

This latest incident occurred around 5:00 Saturday evening in the 1700 block of West Oakland Park Boulevard, sources say. An officer pulled Niño’s Mazda for an unspecified violation and realized Niño had warrants for her arrest. He asked her to step out of the sedan, sources say.

Niño complied, as did her boyfriend, who was also in the vehicle, sources say. However, Niño allegedly got back into the car soon after. The officer took hold of her arm and, as she sped away, was pulled to the ground, sources allege.

Police pursued Niño to the intersection of Northwest 31st Avenue, where she ran a stop sign and struck an SUV, reports indicate. The driver of the SUV apparently sustained minor injuries.
