Ose Elian and Gertha Petit Frere are the latest deaths in the terrible church bus accident that took place this past weekend. As you may know, we recently reported on the death of Nostra Damas, who died on scene. Ose Elian and Gertha Petit Frere reportedly passed succombed to their injuries following the accident.
Sadly, the cause of the crash has been reported as a blown-out tire.
The cause of such blowouts can vary, case by case. However, one of the most common causes of blowouts is poor maintenance or failure to replace worn tires. When a tire is either under-inflated or over-inflated, it creates a safety hazard. The same goes for tires that are not properly balanced or whose tread is worn.
Few things are more dangerous on our roadways than a bald tire.
That said, this is a developing story and the cause of the tire blowout has not yet been reported. While poor maintenance can be a cause, so can road debris.
For the sake of the victims and those injured, I hope the church maintained adequate car insurance so that those effected can obtain compensation for their injuries and the deaths of their loved ones. The families of the deceased and those requiring healthcare treatment are entitled to compensation that could be paid for with adequate insurance.
My prayers and condolences go out to the entire Maranatha Seventh-day Adventist Church community who are mourning a terrible tragedy that words cannot describe.
