Denton Robinson of Tamarac, Florida was arrested Wednesday after a victim came forward claiming that Robinson had been sexually assaulting her since she was as young as 11, news sources report. Robinson, 59, was booked into the Broward County Main Jail on five counts of sexual battery involving a minor. A judge ordered that he be held in lieu of $50,000 bail bond and have no contact with the victim. The press did not specify an attorney for Robinson.
According to reports, the sexual assaults began when the victim was as young as 11. The most recent abuses occurred when the victim was 17, sometime between June 15 and July 14, sources allege. The press was unable to specify how Robinson knew the victim or how he gained access to her. It was not clear in reports how many times Robinson allegedly assaulted the victim.
Reports say the victim, who is now either 17 or 18, attempted to resist Robinson’s advances and told him to stop numerous times. Robinson allegedly told her to “hush” and not report the inappropriate contact. Following apprehension, Robinson reportedly confessed to engaging in illicit activity, such as intercourse, with the victim, a police reports supposedly says.
In other news, Josue Rodriguez of Lake Worth was arrested Thursday after he was accused of attacking his roommate with a machete, reports say. Rodriguez, 40, was booked into the Palm Beach County Jail on charges stemming from the alleged incident. A judge set his bail at $10,000. It is unclear whether Rodriguez has hired legal representation.
According to reports, the incident occurred Thursday morning at a warehouse in Lake Worth. Sources say Rodriguez lives at the warehouse with a roommate. Information regarding the roommate’s identity was not provided in public reports.
Thursday morning, Rodriguez was taking a shower and listening to the radio, sources say. Sometime during that shower, the roommate switched the radio station. Rodriguez jumped out of the shower and approached the roommate, reports say. The roommate, believing Rodriguez wanted to hit him, pushed Rodriguez away from him, sources allege. Rodriguez then allegedly retrieved a machete he had put under a nearby table, charged the roommate, and swung.
The roommate ducked out of the way, but Rodriguez allegedly swung the handle of the machete and struck the roommate in the cheek. The men wrestled on the floor, and the roommate eventually batted the machete out of Rodriguez’s hand, sprinted outside, and dialed 911.
Police arrived shortly after and interviewed Rodriguez, reports say. “Nothing [happened],” Rodriguez reportedly told the officer. “We just wrestled on the floor and that’s it.” Police placed Rodriguez under arrest. While en route to police headquarters, Rodriguez reportedly told the officers, “I only had the machete because I was going to sleep in the woods for the night.” It was not clear at press time whether this was Rodriguez’s first arrest in Palm Beach County.
Reports say the roommate sustained a bloody cheek in the scuffle. It is not known whether he required medical treatment.
