Ciro Kuang of Pembroke Pines, Florida Arrested for Possession of Child Pornography

Ciro Kuang of Pembroke Pines, Florida was arrested Thursday after for allegedly downloading child pornography using a peer-to-peer network, news sources report. Kuang, 48, was booked into the Broward County Main Jail on 15 counts of possessing child pornography. His bond was set at $141,000. The press did not list a lawyer for Kuang.

According to reports, detectives with the South Florida Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force launched a new investigation into peer-to-peer networks on April 15. Peer-to-peer networks function by linking multiple computers together over the Internet. Users connected to the network can download files from others who are connected to the network, as well as share files of their own.

The detectives received a tip that child pornographers were using a specific network to share child pornographic images and videos. During their investigation, detectives reportedly discovered that Kuang’s Internet Protocol address had been used to download 18 images and videos that depicted children in sexual situations. Detectives say the images and videos depict children under the age of 13 involved in sexual acts with themselves, with adults, and with other children.

Detectives used Kuang’s IP address to track him down at his residence in the 20400 block of SW Fifth St. in Pembroke Pines. At around 5:40 a.m. on April 15, detectives executed a search warrant on Kuang’s home. During a search of Kuang’s computer equipment, officers purportedly found traces of the child pornography. When asked, Kuang reportedly said that he used the peer-to-peer network to download music and movies. At one point, Kuang said he downloaded several movies at once, and the illicit pornography may have slipped into his system during that time.

Detectives showed Kuang six images taken from child pornographic videos Kuang allegedly downloaded. Sources say Kuang admitted that he recognized three of the images, but Kuang said he has never had any sexual desires for children. He said he also never touched a child inappropriately.

In other news, Gregory Jones of Tamarac was arrested Wednesday for allegedly stealing a pricey Porsche muffler system from an area automotive store, reports say. Jones, 38, was booked into the Broward County Jail on charges of grand theft. A judge ordered he be held without bail. It is currently unclear whether Jones has hired legal representation.

According to reports, the incident occurred at around 1:00 in the afternoon on April 8 at Champion Motorsports, a store that specializes in the sale of high-end vehicle parts and upgrades. Jones reportedly walked into the delivery bay of Champion Motorsports in the 3100 block of Centerport Circle, picked up a muffler system for a Porsche Carrera GT, and left the shop. Sometime later, Jones reportedly left the muffler system on sidewalk, though it is unclear why.

Surveillance cameras at the shop reportedly captured Jones leaving with the muffler system. During questioning later, Jones allegedly admitted to leaving the shop with muffler. He also reportedly admitted that the surveillance footage showed him taking the property. It is not known whether the store recovered the muffler.
