Robert Perez-Barrera Injured in Delray Beach, Florida Vehicle Repair Accident

Robert Perez-Barrera was injured in a Delray Beach, Florida accident while repairing a service vehicle on Thursday, news sources report. Barrera, 60, was working under the vehicle when something caused it to fall and land on him. He sustained critical injuries and was rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment. Police are currently conducting an investigation to determine the cause of the accident. It is unclear who may be liable for the incident or whether a lawsuit will ensue.

According to reports, Barrera works for a contracting company and was at Thomas Produce, a produce farm on Smith Sundy Road, when the accident happened. Sources say Barrera’s company sent him to the farm to do agricultural work. Reports did not provide the contracting company’s name; so far, the company has not commented on the incident. Thomas Produce has remained silent.

The accident occurred around 12:15 Thursday afternoon, as Barrera was working underneath a service vehicle at the produce farm. It appears that Barrera jacked up the vehicle and climbed underneath to inspect a mechanical issue. For reasons not yet known, the service vehicle dislodged from the jack and fell on top of Barrera. The problem may have been due to a mechanical defect or other fault in the jack; improper use of the jack may have also been to blame.

By the time paramedics arrived, Barrera had already escaped from underneath the vehicle, but he had been seriously injured. Rescue crews rushed him to the Delray Medical Center. Reports say Barrera’s condition remained critical throughout the day.

In other news, four people were injured in a Boynton Beach collision on Friday, reports say. Information regarding the victims’ identities was not immediately available following the crash. Each victim sustained minor injuries and was rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment. Authorities are currently conducting an investigation to determine the cause of the collision and have not said whether either vehicle was at fault. It is unclear whether any of the victims will press legal charges.

According to reports, the accident occurred at the intersection of Hagen Ranch Road and Flavor Pict Road in suburban Boynton Beach. Hagen, a six-lane road, and Flavor Pict, a four-lane road, meet up at a red light at the intersection. Each road has specific lanes for turning and going straight.

Reports say the accident happened at the intersection at around 6:30 Thursday evening. A two-vehicle collision occurred for reasons not yet clear. Paramedics arrived on the scene and found one vehicle resting on its roof in the street; the other vehicle was in a patch of brush on the roadside. Rescue crews rushed two victims to the Delray Medical Center and two victims to the JFK Medical Center. Fortunately, all of the injuries sustained in the crash were minor, officials say.

Police are currently investigating the crash and have not said whether they expect to file charges. Reports have not provided the names of the victims, nor did they indicate what type of vehicles were involved in the crash.
