Eric Dabolish, Lawrence Shapiro Crash in Coral Springs, Florida; Shapiro Dies

Eric Dabolish and Lawrence Shapiro were involved in a Coral Springs, Florida car accident on Monday, news sources report. Shapiro, 65, sustained critical injuries in the collision and was taken to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced dead. Dabolish, 42, was uninjured in the accident. Police are currently conducting an investigation into the collision, and have yet to determine whether charges will be filed.

According to reports, the accident occurred around 2:30 Monday afternoon in the 1300 block of Coral Ridge Drive. Shapiro was northbound in his 2006 Jeep Liberty when he made a left hand turn into the path of Dabolish’s 2008 Ford F-150. It is not yet clear who, if anyone, violated the right-of-way in the crash.

Paramedics arrived at the scene of the accident and rushed Shapiro to the Broward Health North hospital. Paramedics say Shapiro sustained critical injuries; he was pronounced dead shortly after his arrival. Dabolish did not sustain injuries in the crash.

Police are currently investigating the accident and are asking anyone that may know more about the collision to call their Coral Spring department’s hotline. It is not yet clear whether charges will be filed.

In other news, a 6-year-old boy was critically injured in a Miami accident on Friday, reports say. The boy was crossing the street with his grandfather when he was struck by a car, sources say. The boy was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment and is expected to survive. Information regarding the identity of those involved was not immediately available following the accident. Another person was injured in a similar accident on Saturday, reports indicate. A pedestrian was sent to the hospital after being struck by a vehicle in Delray Beach. The victim was identified only as an adult male; he was taken to the hospital with critical injuries. An investigation is ongoing.

The accident occurred around 6:30 Saturday evening on Glades Road, not far from the Florida Turnpike in Delray Beach. Police say the victim was crossing the road when a truck struck him; it is not known whether he was crossing at a crosswalk. The impact sent the victim flying, and he landed about 10 feet from where the accident occurred. Paramedics arrived and rushed the victim to the Delray Medical Center; his condition was critical as of Saturday night.
