Miami, Florida Hit-and-Run Sends Two Teens to the Hospital

A Miami, Florida hit-and-run collision sent two 17-year-old boys to the hospital Friday, local news reports indicate. The accident occurred as the two teens were riding a scooter. Both victims were taken to a nearby hospital with minor injuries; their conditions were unknown following the accident. Detectives are conducting an investigation, but have not yet identified the hit-and-run driver.

Reports say the accident occurred around 3:00 Friday afternoon at the intersection of Southwest 267th Street and 167th Avenue in Miami. While the exact details regarding the case are unclear, reports say a driver collided with the two teens’ scooter and then fled the scene. Judging by the time of day, the two teens may have been on their way home from school.

Paramedics arrived and air-rushed the teens to the Jackson Memorial Hospital. One of the teens sustained minor injuries and the other had a laceration on his head, reports say. An update on the conditions of the two victims is not immediately available. Police are still investigating the crash and say the hit-and-run driver was in a four-door Honda Accord, which now has damage to its passenger’s side and is missing the right-side mirror.

In other news, a Lake Park accident sent one child to the hospital on Wednesday, sources allege. The child was on foot when the vehicle struck him. Information regarding the child’s identity and condition were not available following the crash. Detectives are conducting an investigation to find out the cause of the accident.

According to reports, the accident occurred around 7:00 Wednesday evening at the intersection of Northlake Boulevard and Mount Holly Drive. The exact details are unclear; however, a Palm Beach County Fire Rescue spokesperson said the child was hit by a motor vehicle while in the intersection. Paramedics rushed the victim to the St. Mary’s Pediatric Hospital in West Palm Beach; the victim’s condition was not immediately available. Police are still investigating and it is unclear whether the driver remained at the scene. It remains to be seen whether officers will file charges.

Another person died in a Lake Worth accident earlier this month, reports say. The single-vehicle accident occurred on January 25 near Interstate 95. Information regarding the victim’s identity has not yet been released. The victim was taken to a nearby hospital, but later died of his or her injuries. An investigation to determine the cause of the accident is ongoing.
