Miami-Dade, Florida Hit-and-Run Accident Sends One Man to the Hospital

A Miami-Dade, Florida hit-and-run accident sent one man to the hospital on Friday, news sources report. The accident occurred during an early morning rainstorm. Information regarding the victim’s identity was not immediately available following the accident; he sustained a critical injury to his arm. The driver fled the scene following accident and has not yet been identified. Police are currently conducting an investigation in order to apprehend the driver.

According to reports, the accident occurred in the westbound lane of State Road 836 near LeJune Road and 37th Avenue. SR 836, also known as the Dolphin Expressway, is a multi-lane expressway whose opposing lanes are separated by a small concrete barrier. Reports say the accident took place early Friday morning in rainy conditions.

While the exact details are not yet known, police say a man was exiting his vehicle on the expressway when another vehicle struck him. It is not clear why the victim was exiting his vehicle, although car through seems likely. According to reports, the driver left the scene of the accident. Paramedics arrived on the scene and rushed the victim to the Ryder Trauma Center with a critical injury to one of his arms. Detectives are currently investigating the hit-and-run accident. According to reports, that was not the only accident on SR 836 that day. One woman was killed in a collision on the expressway earlier that same morning. The accident involved a car and a dump truck. The victim, who has not been publicly identified, was a passenger in the car at the time of the accident; she was pronounced dead at the scene. Detectives are currently investigating the accident and, so far, no charges have been filed.

In other accident-related news, one person was injured in a Martin County plane accident on Monday, reports say. A plane carrying three people crashed near a highway at Pine Ridge Plantation; the two other occupants escaped without injury. According to reports, the crash occurred around 11:30 Monday morning in the 27000 block of Southwest Martin Highway near Pine Ridge Plantation. A Martin County Fire Rescue spokesperson said a single-engine Cessna carrying three people crashed near the highway for reasons that have not yet been surmised. Paramedics arrived on the scene and took one of the plane’s occupants to a nearby hospital following the crash.
