Miami-Dade County, Florida Three-Vehicle Accident Injures Three

A Miami-Dade County accident injured three on Monday when a truck driver swerved to miss a pedestrian and flipped on its side, news sources indicate. Another truck was unable to avoid the wreck and overturned as well; that truck was then struck by a tractor-trailer. All three drivers were taken to the Homestead Hospital. Their conditions were not immediately available Monday, and their identities have not yet been released to the public. It is not yet known whether any of the drivers will file for damages or if any charges will be filed.

Reports say the accident occurred around 4:00 Monday morning along a portion of US 1 near mile marker 120, reports say. The driver of a dump truck spotted a pedestrian walking on the side of the street and put on his brakes. His truck, which reports say was carrying gravel, flipped over in the road.

The driver of a second dump truck then arrived on the scene and attempted to stop. Unfortunately it was unable to do so and it also flipped over, spilling even more gravel into the street. A third truck, a semi, was coming down the street and ended up hitting the second dump truck.

Paramedics arrived on the scene following the three-vehicle crash and rushed all three drivers to the Homestead Hospital. The conditions of the drivers were not immediately available following the accident. An investigation into the accident is ongoing. It is not known whether the pedestrian was identified or whether he or she was allowed to walk on that particular stretch of road. It does not appear as though the pedestrian was using a sidewalk; indeed, there is no indication that there is a sidewalk in that location at all.

In other accident-related news, Rosalind Pantell was killed Sunday in a Boca Raton, Florida accident when she tripped and fell in a crosswalk and was subsequently run over, reports indicate. Pantell, 89, was taken to the Delray Medical Center with serious injuries; she was pronounced dead shortly after. The driver who struck her was identified as Hossein Ghani Banki. An investigation into the accident is ongoing and it is not yet known whether police will file criminal charges.

Reports say the accident occurred around 12:30 Sunday afternoon near the Century Village retirement community. Pantell was attempting to cross the intersection of US 441 and Glades Road when she fell to the ground. At the same time, Banki had the green light to turn right onto 441. Reports say he did not see the elderly woman lying in the street and proceeded to run her over. He did, however, stop his car and is cooperating with law enforcement.

Paramedics arrived at the accident site shortly after and rushed Pantell to the Delray Medical Center with critical injuries. Doctors pronounced her dead shortly after her arrival, reports say. It is not yet known whether Banki was hurt in the accident. An investigation into the tragic accident is ongoing and it is not yet known whether Banki will be charged or cited with any wrongdoing.
