Fort Lauderdale, Florida Coach Bus Collision Accident Leaves One Injured

Fort Lauderdale, Florida: One person was injured in an accident on Monday involving a coach bus and a pickup truck, new sources report. The driver of the pickup truck, who has not yet been identified publicly, was taken to the Broward Medical Health Center with serious injuries. The driver of the bus, whose identity was also redacted in public reports, was not injured. An investigation into the accident is ongoing and it is not yet known what conditions led to the accident. It also remains to be seen whether the truck driver will press charges against the bus driver. As of now, no criminal charges have been filed.

Reports say the accident occurred around 2:30 on Monday afternoon, on Permitter Road near the Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood Airport. Sources say both vehicles were traveling down the street when the front end of the bus collided with the driver’s side of the truck, leaving the truck irreparable. Fortunately, it does not appear as though either vehicle was carrying passengers at the time of the collision. No other vehicles were involved.

Paramedics arrived on the scene following the accident and cut the truck driver from his car with the assistance of fire department personnel. A rescue crew then rushed the man to the Broward Medical Health Center with critical injuries to the lower half of his body; his current condition is not publicly known. The driver of the bus did not sustain any injuries in the crash.

Reports say that the owner of the pickup works for a local shuttle company that services the airport, though it is not known which one. Cabana Coaches of Opa Loca owns the bus. According to reports, both drivers were working at the time of the incident. It is unclear whether either company has released a statement regarding the collision, or if the accident will affect the drivers’ position with the companies.

Accidents around airports cause significant concern, as airports are high-traffic and high-security areas that play host to many large passenger-bearing vehicles. At the beginning of December, two people were killed and 31 injured when a bus smashed into a low overhang near the Miami-Dade International Airport. Authorities determined that the crash was due to inattention on the part of the driver.

In other accident-related news, a man was taken to the hospital when he was struck by a vehicle near the Florida Turnpike in Lake Worth, reports say. The victim, whose identity has not yet been made public, was air-rushed to a nearby hospital with unspecified injuries. The FHP is still working to determine what exactly happened. It is not yet known whether they suspect that the driver was impaired by drugs or alcohol at the time of the collision.

Reports say the accident occurred around 5:15 Monday evening at St. Andrews Glen Golf Club in the 7500 block of St Andrews Road. The victim was reportedly on foot when a vehicle struck him. It is unclear whether the driver of the vehicle remained on the scene. The driver’s identity is not publicly known; indeed, it is not yet clear whether authorities have identified the driver
