Christine Jimmie Franklin of Hollywood, Florida Arrested for DUI

Christine Jimmie Franklin of Hollywood, Florida was arrested Monday after she allegedly ran a stop sign and failed a field sobriety test, news sources report. Franklin, 51, was booked into the Broward County Main Jail on one count of driving under the influence. Her bail bond was set at $7,500 and it is unclear whether she has lined up a defense lawyer.

The alleged incident occurred around 7:00 Monday evening at the intersection of North 66th Avenue and Forrest Street. An on-patrol officer witnessed a black 2012 Dodge Durango, allegedly driven by Franklin, run a stop sign. The officer pulled Franklin over and noticed that her breath smelled of alcohol and that one of her eyes was bloodshot, reports say. The officer asked Franklin to exit her vehicle for a field sobriety test; however, Franklin reportedly had difficulty exiting the vehicle and fell to the ground.

A check of Franklin’s credentials allegedly showed that she was driving with an Alabama driver’s license and that her Florida driver’s license had been revoked. She reportedly told the officer that she had driven to Florida from Alabama to pick up her grandchildren. A blood test showed she had a blood alcohol level of 0.252 and 0.244 when she was pulled over, reports say. This is reportedly the second time Franklin has been charged with DUI since 2005
In other news, Antionne R. Hester of Rivera Beach was arrested Monday after an alleged shooting that occurred last year, reports say. Hester is accused of fatally shooting 20-year-old Bevins Bennett on July 4, 2012. Hester, 22, was booked into the Palm Beach County Jail on unspecified charges. It is unclear whether he qualified for bail or hired legal representation. Reports say Hester has a tie to fame, since his cousin of the NFL Chicago Bear’s football player Devin Hester. It is not known whether the two see each other often.

The incident occurred at around 5:30 on the morning of July 4, 2012 on I-95 near Sunrise Boulevard. Hester, Bennett, and an unidentified driver of a green Kia Soul were traveling northbound when Hester allegedly shot Bennett. The motive for the purported shooting remains a mystery; it is not even clear how Bennett and Hester knew each other. The driver took Bennett to North Broward Medical Center, where he died five days later. Reports did not specify whether the driver was injured.

Reports say Hester has been on the run since the alleged shooting. He was not arrested until January 21, when detectives tracked him down to a Riviera Beach residence. Sources say he was taken into police custody on charges relating to the alleged shooting. He reportedly refused to appear before a county judge on Tuesday.

Hester, according to reports, is no stranger to the law and has escaped several serious convictions. In 2007, he was found not guilty on a charge of being a delinquent in possession of a weapon or firearm. He was found not guilty again in 2010 on one charge of attempted first-degree murder with a firearm after he fired into a moving vehicle, reports say.
