Andrew Mutuc, Florence Dilella in Pembroke Pines, Florida Crash; Mutuc Dies

Andrew Mutuc and Florence Dilella were in an accident in Pembroke Pines, Florida on Monday when Dilella, 71, made a left turn in front of Mutuc’s motorcycle, reports indicate. Mutuc, 28, was taken to the Memorial Regional Hospital with critical injuries; he later died of his wounds. Dilella sustained minor injuries in the crash and received treatment at the Memorial Hospital West. An investigation into the accident is ongoing, and so far no charges have been filed.

Reports say the accident occurred around 1:00 Monday afternoon. Mutuc was riding his blue Kawasaki westbound on the 10000 block of Pines Boulevard, and Dilella was behind the wheel of her black Toyota Camry driving in the opposite direction. When the two vehicles approached the intersection of Pines Palm Plaza, Dilella attempted a left turn. Mutuc, going straight, collided with the side of her vehicle. It is unclear whether he was wearing at helmet. It is not immediately known whether there is a light or a series of stop signs at the intersection, although generally those going straight have the right of way.

Paramedics arrived on the scene shortly after and rushed Mutuc to the Memorial Regional Hospital in Hollywood. Doctors pronounced him dead shortly after his arrival, sources say. Dilella also suffered minor injuries in the crash and paramedics escorted her to the Memorial Hospital West in Pembroke Pines for treatment. Police are continuing to investigate the collision. The Florida Highway Patrol did not release a statement as of Monday regarding the details of the crash, and Dilella does not appear to have spoken to the press about the incident.

In related news, one person was injured Friday in a Palm Beach County, Florida accident. The victim apparently fell out of a moving vehicle; he or she was not identified in reports. Paramedics escorted the person to the St. Mary’s Medical Center with unspecified injuries. So far, it is unclear what led to the person falling out of the vehicle.
