Lu Haddeman Killed in Brookesville, Florida Motorcycle Accident

Lu Haddeman was killed in a Brookesville, Florida crash over the weekend when the motorcycle she was a passenger on collided with another vehicle, according to news reports. Hadderman, 72, was the only casualty of the collision, which also involved 75-year-old George Tacott of Clearwater, 88-year-old Richard Miller of Istachatta (with passenger Helen Miller, 88), and 61-year-old Christine Zoucha of Brooksville (with passenger Phuong Nguyen, 30). No charges has been filed as the Florida Highway Patrol continues to investigate the allegations. It remains unclear whether Hadderman’s loved ones plan on filing a wrongful death suit.

According to news reports, the deadly motorcycle accident occurred on Sunday evening at approximately 5:30 p.m. in the intersections of Lake Lindsey Road and U.S. 41 in Brookesville, Florida. Hadderman was riding on the back of a BMW motorcycle driven by Tacott at the time. It is unclear how the two know each other. As the pair was progressing down U.S. 41, Miller allegdly struck the left side of the motorcycle with his 2006 Chrysler.

FHP officials are still unsure of what exactly happened. U.S. 41 does not have any stop signs at the intersection, but Lake Lindsey Road, which Miller was traveling on, did. Miller reportedly stopped at a stop sign as required by law. Some speculate that Miller may have misjudged the speed of the motorcycle or not seen it when he proceeded into U.S. 41, either to turn or to continue on Lake Lindsey Road. The speeds of the vehicles at the time of the collision remain unknown.

In any case, the two vehicles collided, and Haddeman and Tacott were thrown from the motorcycle. They landed on the side of the road. Meanwhile, Miller was propelled into the wrong lane by the impact of the crash. He struck Zoucha’s 2003 Chevy Tahoe head-on. Miraculously, none of the persons in the cars were hurt. The motorcycle’s passengers were taken to Bayonet Point Hospital, where Tacott was last reported to be in serious condition. Haddeman was pronounced dead shortly after the accident.

Unfortunately, car accidents are an altogether common occurance in Sount Florida, although they aren’t always true accidents. For example, 25-year-old Julio Andino was arrested early Tuesday in Miami-Dade after he allegedly triend to run a police officer over before crashing his vehicle. Andino has been booked into Miami-Dade County Jail on charges including fleeing and eluding arrest and aggravated battery on an officer, sources indicate. It is not clear whether he has since been released on bail or has retained an attorney.

According to news reports, Andino is accused of attempting to run over a police officer who pulled him over. Andino, who was driving a BMW near the intersection of Southwest 72nd Street and Souhtwest 79th Street , was pulled over by an officer who noted that the owner of the vehicle had an outstanding bench warrant and that the car’s tag had expired. However, upon appraching the vehicle in police gear, the deputy was almost hit when Andino allegedly put his car in reverse. The deputy did not sustain any injuries, sources indicate.
