According to news reports, the alleged incident of domestic violence occored on Tuesday morning at Murray’s residence in Dania Beach. According to Murray’s wife and 18-year-old son, Murray had become incensed and attacked his wife’s car, which were parked outside the home. Murray allegedly smashed the windows of the vehicle with a bat and slashed the tires with a knife. The make and model of the vehicle remain unknown. In any case, as they were attempting to stop Murray, Murray allegedly struck them with the baseball bat, then stabbed his son in the back with the knife.
Sources indicate that when deputies arrived on the scene, the young man and his mother were outside in the lawn. The son was lying in the grass with a bleeding puncture wound in his lower back, and his mother, who reportedly had a cut on her forhead, was attempting to staunch her son’s bleeding by pressing on his back. Murray had allegedly fled the scene. Murray and his wife’s other child, a 14-year-old girl, was also present at the scene but was uninjured, reports indicate.
Both injured parties were reportedly transported to Hollywood Memorial Regional Hospital for treatment, sources indicate. Their conditions are not currently known. It is also not clear who is looking after the 14-year-old at present.
Murray was apprehended a short time after police responded to the scene. It is still not clear what authorities believe the motive of the alleged attack was. Murray and his family do not appear to have publicly commented on the incident.
Unfortunately, this was not the only Florida arrest for violence against teeagers recently. On the other side of the state, Debbie Piscitella was arrested on Monday after she allegedly tried to choke a teenage boy at a shopping mall. Pitscitella was arrested in St. Petersburg and booked into jail on a child abuse charge. She has since been released on $5,000 bail bond after spending one night in jail, sources indicate. It is not yet clear whether Piscitella, who maintains her innocence, has retained a private criminal defense lawyer.
According to press reports, the alleged attack occurred at approximately 5:30 p.m. on Monday at Tyrone Square Mall in St. Petersburg, Florida. Sources indicate that Piscitella was at the mall with her 14-year-old daughter. The girl reportedly saw the boy, also 14, in front of a Sears store and pointed him out to her mother, saying that he had posted insulting comments about her on Facebook. This apparantly upset Piscitella, who allegedly grabbed the boy around the neck and choked him.
